Wilderness first aid and medical programs offered by Sirius may be modified to respond to the specific needs of clients. Custom designed courses offer the advantage of a conveniently located program which is conducted at a time most appropriate to the group. CONSULTING
Sirius Wilderness Medicine provides professional consulting services in the areas of risk management, outdoor adventure program inspection and safety audit. Seminars are also available on a variety of topics relating to wilderness medicine, outdoor safety, and foreign travel.


Wilderness First Aid (16 hrs.)

$195.00 + tx

This is a practical based course designed for individuals who will be participating in outdoor activities within hours of medical assistance. This course will provide participants with an introduction to wilderness first aid. Basic topics are covered with an emphasis on practical skills, decision making and dealing with environmental conditions. Content includes: patient assessment, shock, wound management, burns, fractures and sprains, environmental injuries, common medical problems, first aid kits. The Wilderness First Aid course may be modified to accommodate CPR training and other elements of wilderness first aid, outdoor safety or leadership training.

Wilderness First Aid for Outdoor Leaders         (40 hrs.) $385.00 + tx

This course has become a minimum standard for outdoor professionals, guides and instructors who work in a wilderness setting. Course content extends far beyond urban based first aid programs to include elements inherent in leading groups in the outdoors and guiding wilderness adventures. Special emphasis is placed on accident scene management, group leadership, leader responsibility and liability, prevention of injuries, advanced first aid kits, wound management and managing the trauma victim.

Wilderness First Responder

An advanced program for outdoor professionals who work in remote settings, rescue personnel, and those requiring a solid foundation in wilderness prehospital emergency care. In addition to the material covered in the 40 hour program, special emphasis is placed on traumatic injuries, incident command, long term patient care, leader responsibility and liability, advanced medical aid kits, wound cleaning, evacuation procedures and working with Emergency Medical Services.

Heart Saver Plus/AED (CPR) (4 hrs.) $50.00 + tx

Cardio-respiratory anatomy and function, introduction to CPR, early warning signs of a heart attack, Emergency Medical Services, management of a heart attack victim, CPR. Practical: CPR adult/child, obstructed airway maneuver; automated external defibrillator certification.
