Organize a Course

Standard and Custom-Designed Courses

You may choose to organize one of our standard Wilderness First Aid programs. Alternatively, you may prefer to modify or adapt our programs to accommodate your specific needs or requirements.

Course Descriptions

Location

Sirius instructors will travel to your location to conduct a course. For courses held in remote regions instructor travel and accommodation expenses may be added to course costs.

Cost

Course fees for contract courses will vary depending upon location and the client’s requirements. Fees will include a certification per participant plus any additional expenses (if incurred) related to instructor travel, accommodation and equipment transport.

A deposit of half the course fee OR a company Purchase Order is required to reserve a course. In the case of a deposit, the balance of fees is due prior to the start of the course. Course fees do not include applicable sales taxes which vary among provinces and territories.

Group Size

Most standard Sirius courses generally require a minimum number of 10 to 12 participants. If you wish to conduct your own course but do not have sufficient numbers please contact our office. Special arrangements may be made or Sirius may be able to assist you in attaining the minimum number required through collaboration with similar groups or associations.

Promoting your Course

Sirius may assist you in promoting your program. We can accept registrations through our head office and post your course on our web site. Sirius representatives may also be available to conduct presentations and seminars on a variety of topics related to wilderness first aid and safety.

Facility Requirements

When you organize a course for your group, we ask you to provide a classroom.

Here are the criteria we look for in a facility when running a Sirius course:

  • A well-lit spacious classroom to conduct lectures and presentations (approx. 30′ x 30′ for a group of 12 participants).
  • Easy access from the classroom to a natural outdoor area proximal to the teaching facility to conduct practical demonstrations, simulations and exercises.
  • Projection screen, projector.
  • Dry erase board (white board)
  • Electrical outlets and extension cord.
  • Where applicable, local accommodations for instructors and out-of-town participants.

If you have an interested group but do not have access to a facility, please contact our office to discuss how we may be able to assist you.
