Sirius Training Programs 2019

Wilderness Medicine provides wilderness first aid and safety training for those working on remote sites or travelling in wilderness environments. Unlike standard urban-based first aid courses, these programs are specially designed to cover remote medical emergencies that are beyond the reach of Emergency Medical Services or 911.

What is Wilderness First Aid?


Sirius training programs are based on provincial, national and international standards and conform to:

  • Canadian federal Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
  • Wilderness Medical Society international guidelines
  • International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) guidelines

Sirius Wilderness First Aid training program have been reviewed and approved as meeting the requirements of Standard First Aid by

  • Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board
  • NWT & Nunavut Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC)

Workplace Legislation

Occupational health and safety legislation mandates specific workplace provisions and practices to ensure a safe work environment. Remote worksites have their own set of specifications requiring wilderness first aid training that is adapted to the environment in question.
